Food hotspots in Utrecht – The Netherlands

Food hotspots in Utrecht

There are amazing food hotspots in Utrecht that just pop with their vibrant energy, colourful dishes and trendy interiors. It’s impossible to list all my favourites in one blog post, but in this one, I give you 5 of them!

The Netherlands: Travel guide of a local

Mr. Black and The White Ox

Mr. Black and The White Ox is located in a former coffee roastery. Mr. Black is the name of the bar that’s open 7 days a week. The White Ox is the name of the restaurant, opened from Wednesday ’til Saturday evening.

In the bar of Mr. Black, it’s possible to get amazing cocktails and order shared diner dishes. Finish with a coffee from their steampunk coffee bar. Go to The White Ox for a beautiful 3-, 4-, or 5-course menu and don’t forget to take a look in their special wine room.

Karibu Café

This food hotspot in Utrecht has one of the coolest interiors. Karibu Café is an African inspired café with an all-day brekkie. The name means welcome in Swahili and that’s exactly how they make you feel. Karibu is also a perfect place for Digital Nomads!

The Streetfood Club

The Streetfood Club is such a vibrant place to be. I love the shared dining concept and that’s perfect to do here with their streetfood menu. The menu has different dishes inspired by countries over the whole world. Think of the Hawaiian poké, Indonesian rendang, Mexican tostada and Indian tikka. Seriously, what’s not to love?

AnAn

First time I went here was because my cousin said it was just open and she wanted to try it out. Excellent choice! We’re staying in the streetfood category because AnAn is a restaurant inspired by Saigon streetfood. I just came from Vietnam, so this was heaven to me!

Popocatepetl The Mexican

Popocatepetl The Mexican, or Popo in short, now has 6 locations in the Netherlands. The Popo in Utrecht only serves dinner, of course from the Mexican cuisine. You can build your own Popo bowl or choose my favourite: fajitas!

I’ll do a couple more of these hotspot post in the future. Honestly, there are so many great places in Utrecht and more are coming every year! Have you found a new place I should hear about? Drop me a message!
